Accounts Payable Specialist Job in Houston 77002, Texas US
A client of mine in Downtown Houston has an immediate need for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join their team on a temporary-to-hire basis.
- Reviews and codes payable invoices for accuracy and matches to the purchase order submitted for authorization of purchase to ensure proper entry into accounting system.
- Coding and processing of accounts payable invoices for both corporate and project related expenditures.
- Coding, processing and auditing expense reports.
- Set up and maintenance of vendor information including W-9 reporting.
- Batch and enter pre-coded invoices into accounting system and run and distribute related reports.
- Communicate with vendors when necessary to correct or modify invoices received.
- Processes computer generated checks weekly for vendor invoices.
- Organize and file all invoices and checks to properly maintain an orderly and accurate filing system.
- Assist with the maintenance of manual and computerized records and documentation pertaining to current and past activities.
- Produce all reports for month-end processing to ensure an accurate accounting of all project related commitments and accruals.
Balance reports with the corresponding general ledger accounts.
- Assist with the data entry of general journal entries.
- Assist buyers and other project personnel in researching and answering order questions, following up on placed orders as to expected delivery, etc.- Assist in expediting orders and tracks shipments.
- Set up and maintenance of subcontract and PO system including vendor information, insurance certificates and other key project/vendor system information.
- Assists with the data entry of general journal entries when it is requested or required for balancing account.
- Other duties as required.Job Experience: - Three to Five (3-5) years accounts payable experience.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrate strong customer focus.
- Strong communication and organization skills.
- Strong ability to multi-task.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Good working knowledge of automated accounting systems including project accounting, job cost and the commitment process.
- Experience within the construction, energy, waste and/or chemical industries a plus.
