We're so much more than just a phone company!Engineering design and performance support of GSM/UMTS Radio Network in NYC• The engineer applies propagation theory, cellular theory, RF engineering tools and antenna theory to choose tower antenna placement, height, site configuration and power to maximize coverage, capacity and performance of the network.
• Review search rings and RF design sheets to ensure that all possible options have been considered to meet the network and financial objectives• Responsible for getting technical approvals from HQ for new site build, major modifications and UMTS carrier growth.
The task will include submission of required supporting data eg scan drive data, propagation plots and performance KPIs• Participation with federal, state and local jurisdictions to insure regulatory and zoning compliance.
Draft zoning and RF safety letters.
• Work with other engineers/departments to troubleshoot worst performing sites; detailed one-by-one analysis of sites/area design• The engineer will closely work with site acquisition, leasing, architect and deployment teams to answer their questions and take decisions on any design changes.
He/she will also be the bridge between RF engineers and above teams• Review site drawings to ensure we meet the design and compliance objectives.
• Ensure that design related national, regional and local databases are up-to-date• Perform and oversee hardware trials This position may be responsible for contributing to AT&T's compliance with environmental laws and regulations as applicable to its job function.
This may include, but is not limited to, work related to fuel tanks, emergency and stand-by generators, boilers, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, batteries, manholes and vaults, water wells, linear and other construction projects, water discharge, or air emissions.
Qualifications QualificationsRequired Qualifications: BSEE with 3-5 years experience in GSM/UMTS/CDMA RF design or an equivalent engineering degree with 7 years experience in PCS/Cellular RF Engineering required.
• Advanced level experience in RF propagation and ACP tools such as ATOLL, Actix.
RF Model tuning and model assignments• Good MapInfo, Manifold skills• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain effective communications between market operations, region, HQ and vendors.
• Able to work flexible hours.
• Self- motivated, positive attitude and ability to work under pressure.
• Previous experience with the FCC and FAA filing and zoning meeting are preferable.
• Good understanding of relation between design and GSM/UMTS network performance.
Hands-on performance engineering experience is a plus.
• Excel macros, visual basic development and SQL programming skills is a plus.
• Driving record is within company compliance.
