ASSOCIATE RESEARCH SCIENTIST Job in Princeton 08540, New Jersey US
Strong and detail-oriented laboratory skills in bioassay techniques such as bioreagent preparation and transient transfections.
Experience with automated liquid handlers, plate readers, automation software and equipment is preferred.
Demonstrates strong skills in conducting quality control, including monitoring performance of bioreagents, robotics and bioassay readers, and measurement of the protein expression levels of stable cell lines.
Proficient at tracking bioassay reagents, cell line inventory, and data output.
Maintain cell culture facilities, including general maintenance, plating and harvesting of human and rodent cell lines, and primary cells for cell-based assays.
Proficiency in general computer skills plus familiarity with databases and specialized analysis tools is required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with scientists across functional teams throughout the drug discovery organization is also required.
The successful candidate will be self-motivating, have good interpersonal and communication skills, be able to multi-task, be highly organized and be committed to participation as a team member within a multifunctional and cross divisional environment.
Responsibilities include operating a variety of routine biochemical and cell based assays to provide SAR and liability data to a variety of teams during lead optimization phase of drug discovery.
The assays will utilize high throughput equipment that is fully-integrated onto a robotic assay platform.
As part of this role, the candidate will prepare SOPs, troubleshoot, and maintain instrumentation, reagents, and laboratory notebooks.
The candidate will collect, analyze and be responsible for effectively communicating assay results to scientific collaborators.
Preparation of communications through both written and oral presentations will be required.
The successful candidate will become part of a broader multidisciplinary team engaged in SAR support and lead optimization with responsibility for analysis of small molecules for a variety of therapeutic areas as well as expanding assay suites and developing new biochemical and cell-based assays.
The candidate must have a BS degree in biochemistry, cell biology or related field, with at least 3-5 years relevant research experience.
He or she must provide evidence of strong self-motivation and successful collaboration.
In addition, she and he must demonstrate excellent communication, presentation, computational and computer skills such as Microsoft word and excel.
