Consumer Show Manager: The Austin American-Statesman
DescriptionThe marketing department of the Statesman is seeking a high-energy, organized professional with demonstrated consumer or trade show producing abilities to manage an exciting new consumer conference and exposition in Austin.
This manager will oversee, coordinate, plan and implement all duties related to producing a consumer event.
The show manager is responsible for the overall production of the event, including but not limited to: budgeting; planning and implementation of all aspects of the event; negotiating contracts; working with vendors; creating and overseeing conference program and workshops; selling of booth space; generating sponsorships; overseeing all marketing and promotional materials and communication; and more.
The show manager will closely with the marketing team and other Statesman partners to ensure effective event execution.
This is no ordinary event-planning job - you will be joining a team going down new, exciting paths for the Statesman.
An ideal candidate must have the ability to work well and accept challenges in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
This position requires excellent communication, written and interpersonal skills as well as strong motivational and problem solving skills.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and a flexible work style are imperative to success.
The ability to handle, organize, coordinate and manage multiple activities happening simultaneously while still meeting targets and deadlines is a necessity.
Bachelor's degree in marketing or advertising or similar is required, along with three years of experience in strategic results driven event planning.
Experience must include previous trade or consumer show experience coordinating conference programs, exhibits, graphics, presentations, receptions, meetings room blocks, and other event components, along with experience managing budgets for planned events.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint are required along with database entry programs.
Some knowledge of Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator are preferred but not a necessity.
