Supervising Producer

Position Summary: To supervise the planning, research, pre-production, production, writing, editing, graphics, music, and completion of programming for all DCI networks, as well as manage direct reports.

Responsibilities

1. Works in tandem with VP of Production Services and Director of Production Services to ensure program quality and creative standards are met at every level of production.

2. Works directly with producers, writers, associate producers, and editors to devise the creative style, tone and approach appropriate for each project.

3. Works directly with producers, writers and associate producers to establish project schedule, and monitor production process and budget.

4. Acts as Writer/Producer for high-profile projects when deemed necessary or appropriate by the VP or Director of Production Services.

5. Works in tandem with VP of Production Services and Director of Production Services to develop, plan and pitch new initiatives.

6. Works with VP, Director, and Assistant Director, as needed, to select & assign production personnel as dictated by the project.

7. Manages Direct Reports such as Producers, Writers, Associate Producers, and Production Assistants.

8. Works with Unit Production Management Team to devise production schedules and budgets.

9. Assists PS Director and Unit Production Management Team with personnel management and workflow management.

10. Member of the Senior Staff that provides strategic direction to PS producing staff.

Acts as a Liaison between both the VP and the Director, and the production staff.

11. Multi-tasks and handles multiple projects simultaneously.

12. Meets with clients to define, assess, and plan projects.

13. Regularly communicates with clients throughout all phases of the project on all aspects, including content, production updates, delays, overages, and related budget issues.

14. Reads and approves all script drafts.

15. Screens and approves all cuts, including rough, fine and picture lock.

16. Presents drafts and cuts for final approval from either the Director or the VP before sending to client.

17. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements: * A Bachelor's degree in Film / Video Production, Journalism, Communications, English or related field is preferred.

* A minimum of ten years in broadcast and/or cable television as a Producer is required.

* At least five years writing experience is required.

* Experience with field directing and producing is required.

* Experience with long-form documentary storytelling is required.

* Experience with series production is preferred.

* Must have proven writing and producing skills.

* Must be well organized, capable of handling several projects simultaneously and have the ability to work independently.

* Must have proven vendor/client relationship skills.

* Must have proven ability to work under tight deadlines.

* Must have thorough understanding of production & post production processes.

* Must have the legal right to work in the United States.
