Project Engineer/Project Manager (JDHJ)
A major chemical company, located in the Charlotte, NC area, is seeking a Project Engineer/Project Manager to join its Engineering Group.
The Project Engineer will work closely with Production, Technical Support and Maintenance personnel to implement capital projects.
The expectation is to complete all projects safely, on schedule, and within approved budgets.
The Project Engineer will focus on removing barriers in the system that could prevent attainment of the above goals, and fostering continuous improvement.
Other Responsibilities Include: Works closely with other engineers, team leaders, area engineers, and maintenance planner.
Coordinates and supervises daily project work.
Coordinates the activities of contract maintenance and project personnel.
Works closely with the Technical Purchasing group to ensure required technical materials are ordered and expedited.
Provides accurate technical information and project updates.
Insures project documentation is obtained, filed, and maintained.
Prepares scope of work and cost estimates for projects.
Evaluates and selects engineering and construction firms for projects.
Insures designs are completed in accordance with company policies, procedures, and requirements.
Controls the project cost for engineering, equipment, and construction activities within company guidelines.
Requirements: Batch and/or continuous operations knowledge from a technical support role in a Chemical Manufacturing Environment.
Minimum 7 years capital project experience on projects ranging from $5,000 to $5,000,000 total installed cost.
Project management certification a plus.
Minimum 3 years major project experience on projects > $3,000,000 total installed cost Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering is desired.
Should possess a good working knowledge of the various crafts involved in performing day to day maintenance and construction activities in a chemical manufacturing facility.
Experience in developing and maintaining work processes and procedures related to batch and continuous operations activities.
Minimum 5 years technical support experience in a production plant and maintenance environment with batch or continuous operations.
Demonstrated experience using SAP systems.
Must have experience implementing and using maintenance, purchasing, and project system modules.
Demonstrated expense and project cost control.
Demonstrated experience with project scheduling.
Demonstrated ability developing project appropriation requests, including scope, cost, and justification Demonstrated ability to manage a complete project, including design, contractor selection, construction execution, and commissioning/start-up.
Willingness and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
