Estimator, Level 1: Triten Corporation
PURPOSE: The Estimator, Level I position is primarily responsible for the timely preparation of quotations from inquiries that come through a variety of sources.
The position is also responsible for converting purchase orders into executable manufacturing orders.
A Level 1 estimator serves as a liaison between customers, sales, and manufacturing.
Level 1 estimators are not expected to participate in contract negotiations, policy making decisions, or provide technical advice to customers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Accurate and timely review and interpretation of customer inquiries - to include blueprints, sketches, and specifications Accurate review of industry standards to assure compliance Accurate and timely procurement of sub-k quotations and material Accurate material computations, material take offs, and layouts Accurate and timely formulation of quotations from customer supplied details Accurate and timely communication with customers (to include requested or expected feedback) Accurate and timely review and interpretation of customer purchase orders Communication to superiors concerning legal and other contractual obligations of a purchase order Accurate and timely transformation from purchase order to manufacturing order (order entry) Accurate bill of materials Accurate Routings Concise and timely communications with manufacturing / quality assurance concerning job routing, scheduling, and quality requirements Concise communications with sales personnel concerning scheduling and cost issues Customer order expediting Prompt and concise communication with superiors concerning customer problem / concerns Participate in all assigned special projects KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Good organizational skills Adequate industry knowledge and experience (manufacturing, machining, welding, materials, etc.) Good communication skills (verbal and written) Good PC skills Good people skills Professional demeanor Self motivation Innovation Teamwork attitude Desire for self improvement Ability to accept constructive critique (self confident) Pride in work and accomplishment Customer oriented EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: Five years experience in fabrication estimation with some drafting experience Or Three to five years experience in fabrication supervision, management, or project management Or Verifiable experience as an industrial / manufacturing engineer Although college is preferred, acceptable and demonstrable experience can qualify a candidate for this position Must be capable of reading and interpreting blueprints (including isometric) Accurate and timely quotations on complex fabrication projects Must be knowledgeable with industry standards and capable of interpreting and applying the same Must be knowledgeable in welding processes, forming processes, materials, and other common manufacturing / fabrication practices Must be knowledgeable and competent in basic geometric and trigonomic functions for material calculations Must be capable of identifying potential liability or contractual issues and communicating same to superiors * The above major ongoing responsibilities describe only the essential job functions and are not intended to be a complete list of all duties and responsibilities.
