Director Of Supply Chain Management
This role is accountable to plan and direct supply chain policies, objectives, and initiatives.
The objective is to ensure the planning, purchasing, warehousing, logistics and customer service functions have the resources, organization, technologies, processes, and systems to efficiently meet business requirements and customer expectations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To develop and execute short and long term strategies and systems for optimizing: a) Demand planning for existing and new products b) Raw material procurement and inventory management c) Production planning, master scheduling, and finished goods inventory management d) Storeroom, MRO, and capital purchasing e) Warehousing, distribution, and transportation f) Order entry and customer servic
2. To oversee the "Sales & Operations Planning" process ensuring there is an accurate forecast to drive efficient production planning, purchasing, manufacturing, and logistics processes.
3. To derive maximum value from the raw material supply chain applying the principles of philosophy, quality, service, value add/innovation, and cost.
4. To identify and recommend efficiency improvements in the manufacturing process and ensure the machine scheduling function is effectively utilizing our lines, maintaining targeted inventories, and meeting customer demands.
5. To oversee freight, fleet, and warehouse operations ensuring warehousing and shipping operations are safe, orderly, efficient, employ best practices, secure, and accurate.
6. To manage the customer service function delivering high quality service to our customer
7. To lead the commercial negotiations for capital project, spare parts, and MRO purchasing; driving for high value purchases and supplier relationships.
8. To manage our material assets and stores; insuring effective use and control.
9. To drive continuous improvement and cost savings across the entire supply-chain.
10. To develop and mentor the Planning, Purchasing, Warehouse/Shipping, and Customer Service organization.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES: Has minimum of 15 years of demonstrated success with at least 10 as a Manager.
Over that timeframe has demonstrated competencies in the following technical areas: Materials and Logistics: Management Tools - Working knowledge of supply chain management and inventory management tools (CPIM CIRM) Planning Methods - Working knowledge of Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) and other materials planning methods.
Material Flow - Working knowledge of material flow through the supply chain and an understanding of warehouse management and distribution system practices.
Logistics - Extensive understanding of domestic and international transportation systems and all associated legal, economic, and customer service impacts.
Strategic Planning - The ability to develop and implement facility materials and logistics policies and procedures.
Compliance - Understands and complies 100% with all corporate materials/logistics policies and procedures.
Purchasing: Negotiating - Must have excellent negotiating skills in dealing with customers and suppliers (CPM).
Materials & Services - Working knowledge of all major materials and services used throughout the facility.
Market Knowledge - Working knowledge of all the industries, markets, and competitors that effect all major materials and services used throughout the facility.
Compliance - 100% compliance with all International, Federal, State and Local regulations (CPM).
Vendor Knowledge - Working knowledge of major vendor capacities and capabilities (CPM).
Purchasing Policies - Ability to develop facility and implement corporate/facility purchasing policies and procedures.
Quality & Process Improvement: Process Improvement - Understands and employs problem solving and process improvement tools and techniques (i.
e., PSDM, MPI, and SPC).
Customer Requirements - Understands the customer's requirements and specification setting.
Certifications - Knows what quality registrations/systems/certifications are available, their content (if applicable) and applicability (ie ISO).
Information Systems: Computer Literacy - Understands the use of a personal computer and is able to use it for personal computing, e-mail, LAN and WAN applications.
Information Systems - Knows Internet and what manufacturing systems are available (ie ERP) as well as the makeup and origin of information and how to access it. Data Analysis - Knows how to read, interpret and analyze systems data to support decision-making.
Time Critical Data - Working knowledge of ERP operations and reports and is able to motivate and manage the accurate and timely entry of data.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION: The ideal candidate must demonstrate leadership skills and excellent interpersonal skills and should have extensive leadership experience in purchasing, planning, inventory control and logistics in a process environment.
The ideal candidate has a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Materials/Logistics, Business, or Accounting, holds certifications as a Certified Purchasing Manger (C.
PM), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), or Certified in Integrated Resource Management (CIRM) with an MBA a plus and minimum of 15 years experience in variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Performs a variety of tasks.
Leads and directs the work of others.
A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
