www.gapinc.com GENERAL SUMMARY: Directs activities for distribution center shipping functions and partners with campus transportation function to meet People, Service and Cost expectations.

Responsible for developing leadership to ensure organizational succession plans are in place.

Establishes and maintains positive relationships with Operations, Brand and Logistics partners.

Leverages distribution center and transportation partnerships to manage complexity, while driving superior service and maintaining cost control.

Directs the implementation and integration of a broad range of DC and Transportation strategies and projects across the Logistics Function ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Working Relationships / Communication Leads operations and support teams in the campus shipping function to ensure all key metrics and service requirements are delivered.

Partners with distribution center outbound operations, campus transportation, support teams and field to ensure overall service commitments are achieved.

Participate with the Logistics Leadership Team, Campus Leaders, and Transportation Leaders in the creation and deployment of specific strategic projects and initiatives Monitors the performance of the shipping function staff to verify attainment of goals and to determine appropriate steps to constantly upgrade resources.

Stays abreast of industry changes via personal visits in partnership with TSM to key carrier sites, attending industry conferences, and developing a communication network of industry representatives.

Regularly partners with transportation counterparts (TSM) and interacts with the field to understand, meet and exceed service requirements.

Communicates effectively with DC Operations, Transportation and Field and key brand partners as appropriate Directs management team to establish priorities for the function work force and ensure proper execution.

Works effectively with DC operations leaders to deliver against expectations.

Establishes and builds an inclusive and welcoming culture within the function.

Maintains open communication with all levels of management and associates in the function.

Core Accountabilities and Supporting Tasks Develops strategies to constantly upgrade core department responsibilities, ie shipping departments.

Oversees qualitative and quantitative evaluation processes to determine the effectiveness of the distribution division's customer service efforts, shipment integrity commitments, and store delivery programs.

Develops and drives strategies based on this analysis to refine and upgrade these efforts.

Develops strategies to address customer complaints and develop solutions for remedy and prevention.

Institutes continuous improvement techniques to track effectiveness of solutions.

Ensures shipment integrity requirements and goals are achieved by working back through the DC's and partnering with the Transportation function.

This will include but not be exclusive to, campus trailer utilization, shipment integrity root cause analysis and Ship complete execution.

Completes special projects as assigned by distribution executives on a timely basis.

Manages successful change management initiatives on time and within budget.

Implements Strategic Initiatives that focus on meeting growing business needs to include future infrastructure improvements.

Focuses on continuous service and cost improvement.

As part of Campus Leadership team, Lead and partner with peers to develop and implement cost efficient initiatives and programs.

Personnel Develops direct reports to ensure succession plans are in place for the function and wider organization.

Ensures that all employees are adequately trained and qualified before being placed on production.

Provides strategic direction to managers and supervisors for anticipating staffing requirements.

Ensures overall operation at maximum standards for production, quality, and attendance.

Verifies that DC policies, including safety and housekeeping, are enforced consistently.

Budgets Prepares annual function budget.

Directs function to accomplish all financial goals.

Responsible for tracking of budget-related information.

Reviews monthly Cost Center results Prepare, administer, monitor and report on performance of department to budget.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Strong leadership and motivational ability.

Proven ability to develop and retain management staff.

Skilled at creating and maintaining functional and cross-functional partnerships and teams.

Excellent strategic and tactical planning skills.

Knowledge of distribution operating systems, logistics and forecasting.

Willing to relocate to support business need and professional development.

Bachelor's degree.

Masters in business, transportation or logistics preferred.

Minimum 10 years management experience required.

Knowledge and experience with distribution operating systems, logistics and forecasting.

Prefer experience in Third Party Logistics Sales, Service, and Operations.

Experience with development and management of variable budgets; familiar with basic accounting principles.

Knowledge and experience using various computer systems.

Extensive transportation and logistics experience.

Experience in developing and analyzing transportation models and developing strategic plans.
