Responsibility: SUMMARY: The employee is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Company's facilities, in addition to managing renovation and construction projects.

Candidates are to possess a minimum of 15-20 years of physical plant experience working in industrial environments and possess a minimum of 10-15 years experience supporting biological laboratories, chemical laboratories and clean rooms.

Provides leadership and direction to all building operations, maintenance, and custodial functions Supervises Operations Technicians and Facilities Mechanics and Facilities Engineers Routinely visits and inspects all buildings and grounds to ensure proper function of equipment and systems; coordinates corrective measures as needed.

Supervises the Safety Manager and Environmental Health and Safety Office Experience in an SOP driven environment On-call twenty-four hours a day; seven days a week.

Direct knowledge of cGMPs Directs comprehensive preventative maintenance programs and maintains repair records for: Heating systems Air-conditioning systems Roofing systems Plumbing systems Electrical systems Lighting systems Smoke detection/fire protection systems Security/Access control systems Boilers and steam generators Refrigeration systems and chillers Centrifuges, glass washers and autoclaves Water systems Standby electrical generators Waste treatment systems Environmental rooms Alarm/monitoring systems Fork lifts, tow motors and walking stackers Ensures compliance with applicable health and safety codes, statutes and regulations including OSHA, Connecticut Fire Safety Code, Connecticut Public Health Code, Connecticut Building Code, as well as adherence to insurance loss control program requirements.

Maintains a customer service approach to managing department Ensures prompt and efficient trash, recycling and medical waste collections.

Contact for vendors, general contractors, sub-contractors, building officials and property managers Supervises construction and renovation projects.

Implements operating procedures to facilitate proper function of department.

Monitors progress of various major or long term projects, including coordination of architectural, engineering, and other consultant services for existing or proposed facilities.

Manages the submission of requisite local, State, and Federal building and maintenance applications and reports, including building permits.

Maintains program for the routine maintenance and certification of fume hoods; supports program for certification of biological safety cabinets and HEPA filters.

Experienced in managing landlord's agents at leased premises Manages support functions for all company groups and departments.

Manages corporate security EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A Bachelors Degree in an engineering, business or scientific field is required.

Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry supporting the manufacture of an injectable therapeutic agent is preferred.

Other combinations of education and experience, demonstrating the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the work, will also be considered.
