Environmental Compliance Manager
Summary: Designs, implements and enforces programs, policies and practices to ensure that all landfills and the NOVE plant operation are in compliance with federal, state and local regulatory requirements regarding environmental health, safety and compliance.
Manages Special Waste approvals NOVs (investigates findings, reportings) Tracks laws and regulations that might affect the organization's policies or practices.
Assists operations management in maintaining compliance with air quality, wastewater and storm water permits and issues, environmental investigations and waste acceptance.
Deals with regulatory agencies (creates correspondence) Coordination of site inspections (internal and external, scheduled,/unscheduled) Provides compliance support and direction during oversight of the Post Closure Plan for the HWMF; Plans, implements and conducts programs to train managers and employees in compliance requirements and practices, to include techniques for handling hazardous materials, chemicals and toxins.
Hazardous material management FIS support Assesses and audits facilities to detect existing or potential violations of environmental regulations or health hazards, determines preventive measures as indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
Provides information and analysis of situations and data for preparation of material and evidence for use in hearings, lawsuits, and response to regulatory agencies.
RDSI compliance.
Supervises Special Waste Manager Education/Qualifications: BS in related field of scientific study.
(Environmental, Physical, etc.) At least 7 years experience working in a regulatory environment (regulatory agency or consulting firm) with oversight in solid waste or working for a landfill or other solid waste facility preferred.
HAZ MAT Certification preferred Waste or Transportation industry experience preferred Strong PC skills (Microsoft windows environment) Some supervisory/management experience or project management experience is required Experience dealing with regulatory agencies required (EPA, OSHA, etc.) Key Evaluation Criteria: Good interpersonal and management skills Strong oral/written communication skills Ability to handle multi-tasks; handle pressure; meet deadlines Team player; willingness to do what it takes to get things done Salary: $95K Excellent comprehensive benefits package!
