Create and execute plans for effective management of physical and digital releases, unapplied product and unlicensed compositions.
Review production schedules to ensure releases are licensed in a timely manner.
Review mechanical royalty provisions from artist contract to determine controlled composition status as well as copyright rates and other necessary information.
Negotiate new media licensing deals with publishers Negotiate with publishers to obtain rate reductions, where appropriate.
Issue and/or request mechanical licenses at appropriate rates.
Provide Publisher Royalties Department with necessary mechanical royalty information to process payments.
Notify Artist Royalties of all releases with excess mechanical royalties.
Maintain effective working relationships with Business and Legal Affairs, A&R Administration, Royalties and New Media departments.
Guide the development of system used by the Mechanical Licensing department Develop and train subordinate staff.
Perform special projects as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree Legal experience preferred 5-7 years experience in mechanical licensing Experience must include exposure to work group interaction in the licensing process (both physical and digital licensing).
A thorough knowledge of artist/producer contracts, mechanical licenses, the Harry Fox licensing process, mechanical royalty process and rate negotiation required.
Strong management skills Good computer skills and systems knowledge, including word processing and spreadsheet programs.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Good knowledge of music publishing business ONLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL SOLICIT A RESPONSE.
