Associate General Counsel (Project) Performs general legal services for the District.
Is responsible for one or more areas of legal specialization as assigned by the General Counsel, such as real estate, construction, intergovernmental agreements, commercial litigation, personal injury litigation, employment, labor, workers' compensation, and contracts.
Supervises and administers all necessary legal services in assigned matters, in conjunction with other in-house or outside legal counsel as required.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited law school; current registration in the Colorado Bar.Substantial experience in the practice of law after admittance to the bar. Individual recruitments may require experience and expertise in one or more particular fields of legal specialization as set forth above to satisfy the District's needs for in-house legal representation.If the District's needs include litigation activity, the position may require defense oriented experience and experience in jury trials.
Knowledge concerning legal issues involving governmental entities.
Working knowledge of general legal areas as set forth above.
Ability to learn and gain expertise in new areas of legal specialization if the District's needs change.
Ability to conduct accurate, highest-quality legal research, both computerized and non-computerized.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to use good judgment and discretion.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Understanding of legal ethics.
Ability to perform word processing on a PC with accuracy and efficiency.
Ability to use District communications resources such as email and telephones.
Ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Ability to work effectively, both independently and as a team member.
