No pre-registration or notification is required: You simply choose a written test date that meets your needs and show up on that date dressed in casual clothing (Jeans, shorts, T-shirts, sweats, running shoes, etc.) Be sure to bring a photo ID to the test site.
Your application is your admission.
Do not mail your application to the City of Phoenix.
Applicants must successfully pass the written test before advancing to the physical agility test.
Applicants who pass the written exam are encouraged to take the next available physical agility test.
Our hiring process is outlined below
1. On the chosen written test date General Knowledge Written Test (169 questions) 2 hour time limit Applicants who pass the Written Test will move on in the process
2. Physical Agility Examination (Consists of
1. 5 mile run, maximum sit-ups in 1 minute, maximum push ups and scaling a 6 foot block wall) Requirements are listed in the test packet and on-line at www.phoenix.gov/POLICE under processing procedures Applicants who successfully complete both the written and physical agility exams will be given a background packet to complete and return to the Phoenix Police Department Employment Services Office.

Medical Examination Requirements: High School Diploma or GED 20 1/2 Years Old (No Max Age Limit) US Citizenship No Felony Convictions Good Driving Record (no more than 2 moving violations in past 3 years) Must meet AZPOST drug standards Out of state applicants MAY be able to complete the process to the point of conditional hire on their second trip to Phoenix.
