Staff Systems Administrator

Staff Systems Administrator Primary Job Responsibilities PayPal is looking for a Senior UNIX Systems Engineer to join the Infrastructure Engineering Coverage team.
This team is responsible for all site changes required to run the business, as well as infrastructure improvement projects.
The changes include obtaining and configuring Linux/Unix systems, configuring pools on load balancers, modifying DNS, Web server administration, allocating SAN storage, and creating VCS clusters.
The team also works closely with Infrastructure Engineering during technology evaluations to discuss feasibility and supportability of the proposed implementation, and influence the design.
The individual in this position will also drive automation using Tivoli and host scripting.
There is an on call pager that is rotated within the organization.
This is an exciting opportunity to help solve challenges for one of the fastest growing business on the Internet Job Requirements Most possess excellent, demonstrable problem solving skills.
Minimum 5 years UNIX / Linux systems administration experience.
Solaris experience required.
Must have ecommerce internet service experience, experience managing / tuning database servers and have experience in more than one UNIX variant.
Advanced VERITAS Volume Manager (VxVM) experience required; and VERITAS Cluster Server (VCS) or other High-availability service experience preferred.
Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex I/O issues in one of the worlds largest SAN environments.
Hitachi/Brocade experience preferred.
Individual must be able to articulate advanced technical topics (eg process scheduling, kernel internals, TCP/IP communications at all levels).
Shell scripting (Bourne, Perl, Awk, Sed, etc.) prowess.
Ability to work in high-pressured but highly structured, customer oriented environment.
The ideal candidate would have technical leadership experience in high volume, high availability and profitable ecommerce internet companies.
Have a proven record of working in high stress and date driven environment.
And possess the skills to develop creative solutions for touch business problems.
Previous work experience in the financial or Internet industry is a plus.
