PC & Desktop Support Technician: Resolution Technologies
Seeking PC/Desktop Support TechnicianPC/Desktop Support Technician This Technicians role is to provide a single point of contact for end users to receive support and maintenance within the organizations desktop/laptop computing environment.
This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all PC hardware and equipment, in a primarily Microsoft Windows-based environment to ensure optimal workstation performance.
The person will also troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or using remote desktop) in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user assistance where required.
Responsibilities: Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of desktop/laptop problems for end-users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions.
Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end-user workstations and related hardware and software in order to deliver required desktop/laptop service levels.
Assess the need for and implement performance upgrades to PC boxes, including the installation of CPUs and hard disks, ribbon cables, hard drives, RAM, memory chips, CD-ROMs, and so on. Collaborate with Network and Systems Administrator to ensure efficient operation of the desktop computing environment.
Where required, administer and resolve issues with associated end-user workstation networking software products.
Receive and respond to incoming calls, e-mails, and/or work order production system regarding desktop/laptop problems.
Maintain an inventory of all disposed monitors, keyboards, hard drives, modems, network cards, and other components and equipment via a disposal tracking system.
Accurately document instances of desktop equipment or component failure, repair, installation, and removal.
Work on projects with other departments that are affect desktop/laptops.
Ability to transfer users data to a replacement desktop/laptop.
Position Requirements: A+ certification is preferred, but not necessary Excellent technical knowledge of desktop hardware and software.
Dell knowledge a plus.
including Windows XP, and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook 2003 and 2007.
Technical knowledge of PC internal components.
Knowledge of various types of desktop & network printers.
Knowledge of ghosting and pc transplant.
Ability to create and update tickets.
Hands-on hardware/software troubleshooting experience.
Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories.
Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.
VPN and/or Blackberry knowledge a plus.
Ability to use remote desktop/netmeeting.
Experience with wireless access.
Ability to conduct research into PC issues and products as required.
