Database Administrator - Phoenix
Database Administrator - PhoenixThis position is based in Phoenix, AZ. Google is looking for an outstanding Database Administrator to play a major role in our cross functional support team.
This person will be tasked with designing and supporting a variety of databases, including MySQL, Oracle, SQL*Server, PostGres and Netezza.
Responsibilities: Design, implement and operate database systems for performance and reliability.
Design and implement measurement systems to assess service delivery and key performance indicators of critical applications.
Work with developers, data modelers and software engineers to ensure the overall application design is optimal.
This involves performance data modeling, schema design and query reviews.
Interface with Network, Hardware and System operations teams to resolve problems with application/database systems.
Requirements: BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
5+ years of database administration experience in a high-volume, high-availability environment.
Experience in database performance tuning, backup and recovery, system architecture and design with any of the following databases: MySQL, Oracle, SQL*Server, PostGres or Netezza.
Strong grasp of system administration and computer science fundamentals particularly networking (tcp/ip), security and web servers.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated problem solving skills.
