Occupational Health Nurse
The Occupational Health Nurse will provide occupational and preventive health services to BD associates.
Services will be primarily provided to the associates located in Franklin Lakes, however, some programs will also impact associates administratively supported from Franklin Lakes .
Primary responsibilities will include: - Conducts the periodic medical evaluation physical program and perform physical exams to medically clear potential Fitness Center members - Responds to all medical emergencies for all individuals on-site, providing emergency medical treatment for injuries and illnesses and, if necessary, refers individual for further medical care.
Completes Accident Reports.
Works with Safety Specialist and Facilities to investigate and identify causes of accidents and take the necessary preventive or corrective actions.
- Reports Workers' Compensation claims to insurer.
Provides on-going case mangement for all associates who sustain an occupational illness or injury through to the closure of the claim.
Maintains the OSHA Log and other reports as required by regulation and Corporate Policy.
Analyzes trends in claims.
- Administers the phlebotomy program for associates needing lab work ordered by their private physician - Provides palliative care for non-occupational injuries or illnesses and refers associates to their private physician, as necessary.
Provides confidential counseling and advice on health matters.
- Coordinates the Emergency Response Team for Franklin Lakes - Performs ergonomic workstation evaluations and educates associates, as necessary - Administers periodic medical surveillance programs (eg: hearing, chamber, etc.) - Administers the Travel Medicine program, including counseling associates, filling travel kits and providing physician-ordered vaccinations - Implements health education and preventive health programs in conjunction with the BD Healthy Lives initiative (for Franklin Lakes) and the Franklin Lakes Fitness Centers - Maintains medical records confidentially and according to legal and Company guidelines.
Preferred Skills & Knowledge: BSN/COHN, 5 - 10 years occuptional health experience, CPR/First Aid Instructor.
Required Skills & Knowledge: Current and Unrestricted NJ Registered Nurse License, Certified in audiometric testing.
Strong clinical assessment skills, including phlebotomy experience.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes and Excel
