HR Assistant Manager Located in our offices in Los Angeles, CA Job Summary: Under minimal supervision, the HR Assistant Manager is responsible for executing all aspects of the human resources function, with a primary emphasis for providing daily operational oversight and leadership for the employee relations and Human Resource Generalist activities across three divisions, including the Corporate Office, Distribution Centers, and Retail Stores from a centralized support center in Los Angeles, California.
The incumbent is responsible for managing a team of HR Supervisors and HR Associates assigned to each of the three divisions while building strong relationships with Corporate, Distribution Center and Store Management in order to facilitate the timely submission of information and completion of HR processes, including, but not limited to, new employee/promotional background screening, employee complaints, leave of absence (LOA) requests, time-off requests, termination requests, and documentation requests.
The HR Assistant Manager will also serve as the primary champion in the development of Company policies, HR processes, system upgrades, and provide cross-functional support to other areas in HR, including, payroll, benefits, compensation, training/development, recruiting, and data management.
Essential Functions: Provide Leadership, daily operational guidance, and mentoring to three HR Supervisors (Corporate, DC and Retail) a team of HR Supervisors and HR Associates assigned to each of three functional divisions, the Corporate Office, the Distribution Centers and Retail Stores.
Manage timely investigations and responses to employee concerns and complaints.
Provide escalated employee relations guidance and support across all divisions.
Work collaboratively with key internal partners (i.
e., Legal Department) to ensure that escalated employee relation concerns are handled consistent with Company expectations while minimizing potential litigation or governmental charges.
Work directly with internal legal counsel in the development of position statements and formal responses to governmental charges, including EEOC and DFEH complaints.
Proactively monitor trends in employee complaints, termination requests, and governmental charges to effectively allocate resources, plan departmental or field trainings, and develop new policies and processes.
Respond to and advise employees and managers on application and interpretation of Company policies, practices, procedures, and ensure understanding for the same.
Manage cyclical and one-time projects from inception through rollout and evaluation (i.
e., annual performance review processes, meal and break audits, retail compensation planning, etc.) in partnership with other HR business unit leaders.
Assists other HR functions in the execution of projects and transactional workload to ensure that deadlines are met. Serve as the primary champion of Company policy revisions and employee handbook updates.
Develop relationships across the department and organization to strengthen HR involvement and perception as a key business partner committed to serving the organization.
Collaborates with Regional Managers, Regional Visual, LP, Distribution Centers, Corporate Managers and HR teams to achieve company objectives.
Promotes teamwork and cross-functional collaboration.
Serves as a key member of the HR leadership team and acts as the department head in the absence of senior management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: · Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience required.
Masters degree preferred.
· Previous experience managing multiple direct and indirect reports.
· Bilingual (English/Spanish,); Ability to read, write, and converse articulately in Spanish is desired.
· Seven to ten years Human Resources management experience as a Human Resource Generalist, Coordinator, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
· Advanced Excel (Formulas, Pivot Tables, Charting, and Data Mining) and/or Access skills desired.
· Lawson experience preferred.
· Lead by example in the areas of work ethic, personal and professional development that leads to maximum satisfaction, and performance of all assigned tasks.
· Demonstrated ability to develop relationships effectively.
