Records Coordinator II - (MG16951)
Job Description: Job Summary: Perform clerical support functions, including retrieval, processing, and maintenance of patient records, x-rays, slides, and relevant documents.
Perform routine data entry, and make decisions to improve filing accuracy and reconcile discrepancies.
Job Qualifications: Education: High School diploma or satisfactory completion of GED. Two (2) years of college in Health Science Degree or Business preferred.
Completed courses in Records Administration preferred.
Medical Terminology certification a plus.
Experience/Certification
1. 2 years of medical records experience.
Oncology background preferred.
2 years of patient relations or public contact.
Knowledge of alpha or numeric filing systems and/or electronic archiving.
Medical Terminology.
Continuing education in medical records management.
Job Specific Skills: Knowledge of hospital and/or departmental patient information systems (OACIS, MATKON, LOTUS, VARIS).
Computer knowledge/experience (NT Windows, CD ROM).
Basic keyboarding skills.
Professional telephone skills and etiquette.
Ability to handle same time requests with poise and calmness.
Triaging and prioritizing skills.
Effective communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills.
Diplomacy, courtesy, excellent, and positive outcome directed.
Ability to work independently and exercise judgment in analyzing and investigating medical records issues.
Knowledge of clinic (ambulatory) practices and procedures.
Organizational and prioritization skills.
Ability to handle multiple and stressful tasks.
