DEPARTMENT: Mental Health-Child and Family Services/Adolescent CDS SCHEDULE: Full-time regular; 40 hrs/week; Shift: Day/Evening; Monday-Friday; Scheduled hours vary.
EDUCATION: Doctorate in Psychology required.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: Licensed in the State of California REQUIRED SKILLS TESTING: N/A POSITION SUMMARY: See Duties.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: Doctorate in psychology from an APA-accredited university, has completed an APA-approved internship, and is licensed or license -eligible in the state of CA (3 years post-licensed preferred).
Knowledge of social service agencies, state regulations and APA standards as it relates to patient treatment, rights and patient confidentiality in general, and previous clinical experience in a health maintenance organization or alcohol/drug abuse clinic in particular.
Excellent experience in working with adult patients with addictive disease is necessary.
Experience in authorizing short-term disability required.
Experience with working with a diverse clientele is also required.
The candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Lastly, bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
DUTIES: Conduct intakes on new Chemical Dependency (CD) patients.
Maintain own panel of patients.
Lead or co-lead three to six CD type groups (educational and process) per week.
Participate in regular clinical case conferences, and function on special Psychiatry Dept committees as necessary.
Authorize and complete disability forms, primarily short-term CA State disability.
Participate with a small, multidisciplinary team of dedicated CD staff to collective manage clinic for addicted persons, including adolescents, and their family members.
