Nurse Practitioner - Peds GI
Schedule: 48hrs/pp, Mon-Fri, 1st shift hours.
Department: Peds GI Clinic Location: DeVos Children's Hospital Job Summary: The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for managing patients and coordinating the services provided by multiple disciplines within and outside the health system.
Maintains a collaborative practice agreement with specific physician(s).
Exercises independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of selected protocols/procedures.
Provides educational support for patients/significant others, health team members and the community and coordinates QA/QI studies to measure outcomes of care.
Job Requirements: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
Master's Degree in Nursing/health related field.
Certified and licensed as a Nurse Practitioner by the State of Michigan.
Maintenance of CPR certification.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support as appropriate for patient population.
Completion of advanced wound care course within 12 months of date of hire, and certification in wound care management within 24 months of date of hire.
At least three years current, relevant clinical experience.
Previous experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred.
Previous experience functioning in a collaborative role.
Other: Ability to coordinate care provided by multiple services.
Able to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes and multiple interruptions.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to make quality, independent decisions.
Time management and organizational skills.
Independently mobile.
Able to lift patients and equipment weighing up to 60 pounds (pediatric and adult NP), 40 pounds (neonatal).
