NURSE EXTERN (27544)

Now the largest hospital in Arizona, this 690-bed "teaching and research" hospital in downtown Phoenix, is home to Barrow Neurological Institute, one of the nation's top 10 neuroscience centers and the Children's Health Center, which is the second largest provider of comprehensive pediatric services in the State.
Our Trauma Center is Arizona's only Level 1 center verified by the American College of Surgeons and our nine critical care units serve more than 60,000 patients a year.
The hospital also offers high-risk obstetrical and neonatal intensive care as well as adult and cardiovascular care programs.

St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Centers Nurse Extern Program is the only program in the Valley operated by a nationally respected institution where education and research are a central part of what we do and upon which we've built a sterling reputation.
As a Nurse Extern, we'll indroduce you to several potential career paths including Med/Surg, Critical Care, Neuro, Women's and Children and more! Must be enrolled and in good standing in a RN program and have completed first semester of clinical rotations.
Under direct supervision of the Registered Nurse, provides patient care according to the established plan of care, utilizing the nursing process.
As a member of the Patient Care Team, the Nurse Extern works closely with the Registered Nurse and Patient Care Technician on a daily basis.
Participates in quality improvement and patient/family/staff teaching as appropriate.
Performs all the standards of CHW within the patient-centered care program and the hospital as a whole.
