Dental Assistant: Keller Professional Group
Job OverviewUnder the direction of the Staff Dentist / Dentist in Charge, the Dental Assistant will maintain equipment, materials used, and supplies within the working area.
Works closely with the Dentist by assisting in patient care through dental procedures, oral hygiene, restorative, prosthetic and surgical care, radiology exams, education and training.
Duties and Responsibilities Smile and speak in a courteous and friendly manner with clients and staff members.
Provide routine assistance to the Dentist in the examination and prophylactic, therapeutic and surgical treatment of patients.
Exhibit assisting skills that demonstrate familiarity with the principles of general dentistry.
Handle and/or mix dental materials such as amalgam, temporary filling material, impressions, and cements.
Set up standard and/or sterile trays properly for various operations and procedures.
Communicate and explain to the patient the procedures they will be undergoing.
Educate on dental care as required.
Maintain dental records on patients seen and assure all care given documented is by self and Dentist.
Follows all safety policies when operating equipment in dental area along with notifying Dentist immediately of equipment not working properly.
Follow all Universal Precautions per Policy and Procedure.
Maintain patient confidentiality.
Place bases and liners in teeth.
Chart existing and obvious lesions.
Perform related duties as requested by Dentist.
Skill & Qualifications Experience working in dental / medical field preferred Knowledge and use of clinical / laboratory and dental instruments, supplies and equipment Ability to lift up to 25 lbs Oral / written communication skills Organization skills High School graduate or equivalent Experience preferred, but not mandatory Desire to help others in a caring and empathetic environment Pleasing personality, desire to be a part of a caring team
