Job Title: Certified Medical Coder- Ft. Knox Location: Ft. Knox, KY Status: Contract , Associate Reference Code: 32647 Job Category: Healthcare - Medical Records, Health IT & Informatics3007 Education Level: High School or equivalent Career Level: Student (Undergraduate/Graduate) Relevant Experience: 0-1 yearsCertified Medical Coder- Ft. Knox Job Order Number: 1357-87 Position Description: Serves as a Medical Records Technician (Coder) performing technically complex duties in all facets of clinical records and medical data.
Includes screening incomplete records for regulatory and content deficiency, review and analysis required to select correct and most appropriate codes and sequencing.
Selects and assigns codes covering a wide variety of diseases, operations, diagnostics and therapeutic procedures.
Enters into the system transfer history data, makes corrections in registration data, and prints copies of the cover sheet for the inclusion in the original medical record and for distribution to other areas of the hospital Must observe code of ethics governing confidentiality at all times.
Assists professional staff with specific case studies by retrieving appropriate inpatient and/or ambulatory data record for review and analysis and other data and/or abstracting required information from specified inpatient records, comparing medical record documentation of actual practice against predetermined criteria.
Position Requirements: MUST be certified as a medical coder.
Certifications must be provided before any candidates will be considered for this opening.
