Job Title: Buyer - Clinical Lab Supplies (069465) Company: LabCorp Location: Burlington,NC Status: Full Time, Employee Job Category: Administration & Support Services Buyer - Clinical Lab Supplies (069465) Burlington, NC 27215 JOB DESCRIPTION/REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: Negotiate contract pricing on behalf of LabCorp.
Responsible for selection of suppliers for procurement of quality products.
Ensures timeliness of response, cost effectiveness and quality of materials.
Handles product complaints.
Continually sources competitive products.
Serves as liaison between the Corporate Purchasing department and other departments and locations within LabCorp to ensure they are kept current in Purchasing procedures and policies as well as standardization program.
Purchasing and/or negotiation skills; internal knowledge of LabCorp is extremely valuable.
Has comfort level working with vendors; if necessary, not afraid to "walk away" from a deal.
Decisions always MUST be in best interest of LabCorp.
Willing to travel as necessary; work with other LabCorp departments and divisions outside Corporate Purchasing.
Works with the Law dept.
on contracts; familiarization in constructing contracts.
Monitors vendor performance; makes vendor site visits as necessary; makes presentations as necessary; works on acquisitions.
Computer skills; Excel and Word knowledge.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Administrative: Answer telephones, maintain logs/records, organizational skills, proficiency with numbers, research information, time management, train employees, use computerized databases, written and verbal communications.
Machine: Calculator, personal computer.
Physical Demands: Speech clarity, repetitive motions-making frequent movements with fingers and hands, standing-remaining on one's feet in an upright position, sitting-remaining in the normal seated position, handling-seizing, holding, grasping, or otherwise working with hands.
Vision Requirements: Able to pass standardized color vision test, as required by test performed.
License/Certification/Education: Normally a BA/BS Degree w/3-5 years of experience is preferred.
