-------------- Department: KFH Administration Schedule: Full-time Regular; 40 hours/week; Day Shift; Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.
Education/License/Certification : Bachelors degree in Nursing and a current California RN license required.
Masters Degree in Nursing, Health Care, Public, or Business Administration required.
Experience commensurate with an advance degree may be considered (15+ years).
Position Summary: Responsible for the strategic development, planning, and control of the delivery of patient care services and the vision for nursing within a facility.
Participates with senior leadership to achieve the highest quality healthcare in a clinically and fiscally accountable manner.
Develops strong collaborative leadership relationships with TPMG.
Serves as Chief Nursing Officer.
Qualifications: Extensive (typically 10+ years) progressive experience in clinical, management and leadership roles in a multifaceted health care system and multi-service provider setting required.
Executive level communication, presentation, leadership, analytical and problem solving skills required.
Ability to lead and manage through influence and change.
Thorough knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations such as: Knox-Keene Act, Federal HMO Act, JACHO, and all applicable Medicare and Medi-Cal regulations.
Significant leadership experience in regulatory surveys.
Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a union environment.
Proven ability to deliver results for meeting organizational objectives.
Skills Testing: N/A Duties: Accountable for the following functional areas: All inpatient nursing units including Perioperative services, utilization management, quality liaisons, discharge planning, central sterile processing, acute dialysis, nursing education, clinical dietician, patient transportation, pulmonary services, and inpatient pharmacy (dotted line).
Key relationships include Assistant hospital administrators for Support Services, Quality and Service, HR, Public Affairs, I.
T., and Pharmacy; Infection Control; DONP; MGA; Chiefs of Service; Regional PCS and Continuing Care; and Community Peers.
Accountable for the efficient delivery of all patient care services for KP members by participating in the development, evaluation and utilization of cost-effective, high quality nursing practices.
Demonstrates and communicates commitment to performance improvement through systematic outcome monitoring of both administrative and clinical data effecting staffing and patient care.
Builds trust with the nursing team through visibility.
Develops and implements quality and utilization standards for patient care services to ensure coordinated plans of treatment, delivery of services that meet members needs, and the cost-effective utilization of necessary services.
In conjunction with the medical facility leadership groups, determines the most cost-effective and efficient levels of patient care clinically and operationally; implements such locally.
Ability to work strategically with C.NA Coordinates with TPMG to provide for the seamless transition of patients across the continuum of care.
Establishes partnerships with facility leadership groups.
Ensures policies, practices and procedures comply with administrative, legal and regulatory requirements of Health Plan contracts and governmental and accrediting agencies.
Maintains a state of continuous regulatory readiness.
Collaborates with facility management team and the medical staff to develop the overall financial plan.
Assures short and long-range financial goals are met by establishing and controlling the budgets.
Develops, coaches, and manages a staff dedicated to providing expertise and customer service.
Monitors and assesses trends, external environment and internal practices; makes recommendations to develop/adjust strategy to meet the changing business and market conditions.
In collaboration with medical staff and facility leadership ensures a superior care experience, and a safe environment for patients and staff.
Participates in developing the hospital's plan for the recruitment and retention of nursing resources to ensure that a sufficient number of qualified staff members are available to meet the needs of the patients.
Ensures a professional development program which addresses the needs of clinical and management staff.
Ensures a multidisciplinary performance improvement program for the division of patient care services.
Assists managers in preparation of department operating and capital budgets based upon criteria supported by volume and expense projections, cost benefit analysis, operating processes and other relevant information.
Identifies and implements ways to reduce and control expenses as well as enhance revenues in hospital assigned areas, in addition recommends ways of increasing hospital efficiency in all areas of operations.
Communicates effectively as hospitals advocate to members of the community, continually seeking ways to improve and promote the public relations objective of the hospital and marketing services Consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility (Kaiser Permanente's Code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licensure requirements (if applicable), and Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures.
