Jobs in this field include: Culinary Specialist As part of this occupational specialty, you could: - Serve as food service specialist on Admirals' staffs and for the Commanding Officer at shore bases - Prepare menus and keep records and financial budgets for food supplies - Operate kitchen and dining facilities (also known as "galleys") - Operate and manage living quarters on shore Advanced Training & Certification Reservists in this specialty receive both hands-on and classroom training in areas such as nutrition, dining, and entertainment services and teamwork.
Because of the Navy Reserve's need for detail-minded, people-oriented professionals with a love for the art of cooking, the opportunity for placement in this field is excellent.
Your training might also prepare you to be, or enhance your current career as, a hotel or food and beverage service manager, lodging facilities manager, restaurant and hotel baker, or nightclub manager.
Some of your formal and on-the-job training will transfer to college credit hours toward an associate's or bachelor's degree.
