Computers, Electronics, and Information Technology in the Navy Reserve Quickly adapt to nearly 150 different simulated scenarios from missile countdown to launch.

Employ the latest test and repair equipment on the EA-6B Prowler just minutes before takeoff.

Help transform raw data into crucial military intelligence.

As a Reservist in this field, you will install, operate, and maintain some of the most sophisticated computer hardware and software equipment in the world.

Or, perhaps, you'll ensure the efficient collection, deciphering, and analysis of a vast array of information via state-of-the-art communications, navigation, threat detection, and combat-systems equipment.

No matter what your responsibilities, your efforts will help provide the Navy with the technological advantage it needs to protect our country, our allies, and our forces.

Jobs in this field include: Electrician's Mate Electronics Technician Fire Controlman Gas Turbine Systems Technician Electrical Information Systems Technician Interior Communications Electrician Missile Technician Sonar Technician Surface As part of this occupational specialty, you could: - Evaluate intercepted radar signals to determine their origin - Identify sounds produced by ships, torpedoes, submarines, sonar transmissions, marine life, and natural phenomena - Track surface and inbound targets - Operate underwater communications equipment - Work with highly classified and technical material - Provide communications support to the Fleet - Provide technical support to deployed units - Control and operate communications systems - Ensure digital and analog signal quality - Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on state-of-the-art electromechanical equipment and systems - Repair and calibrate a wide variety of precision electronic equipment - Assist in equipment installation and modification - Collect and analyze communication and noncommunication signals - Operate state-of-the-art electronic radio receivers Advanced Training & Certification Jobs in this field involve a high level of responsibility and maturity in dealing with highly technical systems and classified information.

Individuals can receive extensive Navy Reserve training in the operation, maintenance, and repair of complicated computers, electronics, and computerized systems.

Training in this area often converts directly to college credit.

You may also have the opportunity to earn certification from the Department of Labor allowing you to work as a computer programmer, radio station operator, meteorologist, or ordnance artificer.

Your training might also prepare you to be, or enhance your current career as, a computer operator, computer systems administrator, database administrator, data communications analyst, computer systems hardware analyst, cryptographic machine operator, photograph interpreter, electronics mechanic, electronic intelligence operations specialist, oceanographer assistant, mechanic (radio, electronics, airplane), electronics technician, electrical instrument repair, data communications specialist, technical writer, intelligence specialist, or rocket engine component mechanic.
