Utility Mechanic Specialist JOB DESCRIPTION: Monitor, operate, test, troubleshoot, adjust, align, clean, repair, remove, fabricate, and install any system or components of a system assigned to the CEF Operations group.
Systems include low conductivity water, compressed air/gasses, air compressors, potable water, city water, lift stations (storm & sewer) HVAC cooling towers, vacuum systems, water purification systems, heavy metals waste water, chillers, chilled water systems, boilers and hot water systems.
Repair or perform preventative maintenance on systems and components.
Perform tests & measurements on cooling water systems, domestic water systems, de-ionized water systems, heavy metals waste water, air and gas systems and hydraulic systems.
Knowledge & operations of SLAC's or equivalent DCS systems.
Work rotating shift/overtime at management's discretion.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must be knowledgeable with pumps, pump overhaul, balance & alignment test equipment, motors, seals, and bearing applications.
Knowledge of hoisting and rigging equipment use in the performance of daily tasks.
Ability to analyze problems & take appropriate action.
Ability to work from written or verbal instructions.
Ability to read and understand applicable OSHA, DOE & SLAC environmental safety & health rules, procedures and regulations.
Must use ISEMS and JHAM as work dictates.
Must be computer literate and be able to create pump/motor database for use on the new CMMS system.
Must be able to take training as needed to keep skills current.
Willing to train other mechanics.
Must be physically able to perform all work duties described in SLAC requirement checklist (climb ladders, stairs, work in tunnels, lift, push, etc.) Must have valid CA drivers license.
