We are currently in search of a high energy, fast paced Release Engineer.

This individual will be responsible for architecture, configuration, deployment and support of Java/J2EE and ColdFusion applications.

This is an engineering position working with the Infrastructure team and is NOT a development position.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Work closely with Project Managers, Systems Administrators, and Development team during the development, test and launch phases of the software development lifecycle to configure and release application/web site code into test and production environments.

Perform version control and labeling of the build and all supporting documentation using CVS (Concurrent Versions Systems).

Track application configuration system through Development, Software QA and Production environments.

Coordinate release schedules for multiple applications in Windows and Linux environment with various IT teams.

Management of the source code control system.

Author documents related to the deployment process of for each software release.

Attend change control meetings and initiate follow-up actions when appropriate.

Participate in process improvement initiatives related to the Release Management process.

Work closely with development and quality teams to maintain validation standards.

Provide technical assistance and source control training to other departments as required.

Ability to install and configure JBoss and ColdFusion.

Ability to write complex scripts.

QUALIFICATIONS: 5+ years experience in designing and supporting application services, ideally in a 24X7X365 Internet / E-Commerce involving Java, ColdFusion, Tomcat, Apache, and Linux environment.

A solid understanding of a the Unix/Linux operating system; understands paging and swapping, inter-process communications, devices and what device drivers do, filesystem concepts (inode, clustering, logical partitions), can use performance analysis to tune systems.

Networking Expertise - switches, routers, load balancers J2EE Application Server - Takes part in design, implementation, configuration, and support of various java technologies such as Tomcat and JBoss.

Web Server - Takes part in design, implementation, configuration, and support of Apache, IBM HTTP Server and Microsoft IIS. Interfaces with application development staff to gather requirements and server support for implementation.

Shell Scripting - Write shell scripts to automate administrative tasks in BASH and KSH. Experience with J2EE application servers, Web Technologies and MS SQL Working knowledge of RedHat and/or HP-UX Must be able to create/follow detailed installation plans, document the installation process, quantify the deployment effort and complete the installation work.
