Protocol Firmware Engineer
Position Overview: The selected engineer will be a member of a team developing firmware for the FP4.
1 Packet Subsystem portion of Tellabs 7100 product line.
Responsibilities include participation in full lifecycle development process.
Candidate should have broad knowledge of embedded design concepts, including real-time operating systems, database design, memory management, device drivers, protocol stacks, board-support packages, redundancy models, etc. Candidate is expected to be adept at writing and reading subsystem and component design specifications, proficient in C programming, and exceptional in troubleshooting complex system problems.
A good understanding of hardware board design and integrated circuit behavior is expected.
Prior experience working with MEF data protocols is a plus.
Qualifications: Required Skill Sets: -One or more of the following protocols required: 802.
1x, 802.
3x, Metro Ethernet Bridging, MPLS, PWE3, STP/RSTP, RMON1/2, TCP/IP -Experience designing, implementing, and integrating embedded firmware for communications products -Experience working with a real-time operating system -Experience working with real-time debugging & profiling tools -Experience working with Clearcase and Clearquest Desired Skill Sets: -Experience working with the Motorola Power PC family of microprocessors -Experience with VxWorks -Experience working with Network Processors Experience: -10 years overall Software engineering experience in a Telecommunications or Data Networking field.
- BS or MS degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
