PATIENT CARE TECH (3P-11P / 11P-7A / 8 HR, 5 DAYS: Grady Health System
DESCRIPTION: The Patient Care Technician is responsible for providing personal care and selected patient as delegated by the RN. Care will include assisting patients with activities of daily living and providing comfort measures and nourishment.
Will perform selected therapies and advanced technical nursing skills for assigned patients.
Will meet needs and expectations of significant others.
EDUCATION / REQUIREMENTS: High School Graduate or equivalent.
CPR certification and proof of completion of a Personal Care Technician program.
In addition, must have one of the following: GA certification as a CNA; three (3) years experience in direct patient care as an unlicensed assistant; GA certification as a Paramedic; completion of a Critical Care Technician program; completion of a Surgical Technician program; or graduate of an approved EMT program.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Are moderate with regular standing or walking, occasional climbing, stooping or kneeling and regular lifting above shoulders.
Require lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.
Requires close, distance and color vision, hearing, talking, manual dexterity and irregular hours/on-call.
The environment involves occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock and fumes or air borne particles; and regular exposure to blood borne pathogens, infectious disease, work near moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemical, and risk of radiation.
The noise level is generally moderate.
Require safety equipment for this position may include glove, gowns, boots, surgical masks, dust masks, safety eyeglasses, and goggles with side shields.
