Engineer I, Engineer II Or Senior Engineer (Delivery Services) Electrical
Purpose of Position The engineer I performs specific engineering tasks and assignments in support of planning, estimating, project management, designing, materials procurement and construction of additions to MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system.
Responsibilities include applying prescribed methods and standard practices in performing specific tasks within projects and assisting engineering staff on more complex projects.
This is the first level position of the engineer career path.
The engineer II provides engineering services for the planning, design and construction of project additions to MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system.
Responsibilities include project management, estimating, materials procurement and construction contracting.
This is the second level position of the engineer career path.
The senior engineer provides highly technical engineering services and directs the work of others for the planning, design and construction of project additions to MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system.
Responsibilities include project management for all phases of project additions; overseeing and guiding engineering staff in project management and design and problem resolution of complex engineering problems.

Provide technical project management for certain phases of a project including scheduling, design, estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections.
Assist with engineering studies and investigations and assist with preparing oral and written reports.
Provide engineering assistance to other departments and perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning.
Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Engineer II Provide engineering services for the planning, design and construction of project additions to MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system; focus may include planning and budgeting gas and electric systems.
Provide technical project management for all phases of a project including scheduling, design, estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections.
Conduct engineering studies and investigations and prepare oral and written reports.
Provide engineering assistance to other departments and perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Keep informed of industry issues and technical trends that can benefit MidAmerican Energy Company's business.
Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning.
Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Senior Engineer Provide advanced engineering services for the planning, design and construction of project additions to MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system; focus may include planning and budgeting gas and electric systems; conducting system expansion studies and economic evaluation studies, separately and in conjunction with other utilities; designing new facilities; preparing specifications, drawings and contracts; power system protection design and system disturbance analysis.
Provide technical project management for all phases of a project including scheduling, design, estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections.
Conduct advanced engineering studies and complex investigations; prepare oral and written reports of results and recommendations.
Provide advanced engineering assistance to other departments; facilitate internal training classes for engineers and technicians; responsibilities may include developing presentations for senior management and professional/industry groups, authoring technical papers for publication by professional/industry organizations, chairing company committees/task groups and participating in industry standards committees and perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Keep informed of industry issues/technical trends and recommend and implement changes to benefit MidAmerican Energy Company's business.
Provide technical leadership to staff.
Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning.
Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Provide high level of innovation, creativity and ingenuity in situations requiring original and inventive approaches.
Provide effective leadership, organization, planning and control of project assignments; engineer II project assignments generally involve expenditures of $1 million or less and for senior engineers project assignments generally involve expenditures of $5 million or less.
Perform responsibilities as directed within determined time frames and with a high degree of accuracy; complete project assignments to meet customer needs and achieve cost, schedule and reliability objectives.
Provide accurate input into the budget process and contribute to meeting the actual targets.
Provide safe and efficient engineering services for all of MidAmerican Energy Company's business units.
Recognize, investigate and solve problems relating to MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.
Maintain the professional competence, knowledge and skills necessary to effectively complete responsibilities; enhance job knowledge and abilities by taking personal responsibility for professional development and training.
Maintain sensitive and confidential information regarding company information Attend work on a regular basis and support the company's employee policies and procedures, including workplace safety rules.
Participation on teams that results in contribution to achievement of team goals and objectives, sometimes in a lead role for a phase of a project.
Position Requirements Engineer I Bachelor's degree in the appropriate engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
Engineer II Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
One to three years in related engineering applications or other related industry experience.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
Senior Engineer Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
Five years of successful industry experience as a practicing engineer and an advanced technical degree or registration as a licensed professional engineer in a state served by MidAmerican Energy Company or eight years of successful industry experience as a practicing engineer.
Effective oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.
Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Advanced project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
