Library Assistant: Skidmore College
The Lucy Scribner Library at Skidmore College seeks a full-time, 12-month Library Assistant to work in the Bibliographic Services Office and Special Collections.
In Bibliographic Services (Acquisitions and Cataloging), the Library Assistant will work on receiving and cataloging special materials, including but not limited to: Worldwide art books; books for the Children's Literature Collection; documentary DVDs; and artists' books and rare books for Special Collections.
Ten hours a week will be spent in Special Collections, where the Library Assistant will oversee the reading room as needed, as well as work on specific archival and/or rare book projects.
An Associate's degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of coursework, preferably in the humanities, and experience; advanced computer skills; commitment to flexibility and working in a team environment are required.
Library experience preferred.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to manage several projects simultaneously, and work in an organized manner with emphasis on detail and accuracy.
Candidates must display a demonstrated ability for independent work and good judgment in decision making.
