Family Life Counselor: St. Josephs Villa
Assists clients striving to end cycle of homelessness This position works in our Flagler Program, a program that transitions homeless families into permanent housing by providing academic, skill and behavioral education.
Under the guidance of a Treatment Specialist, the Family Life Counselor assesses clients' needs, assists them in achieving vocational and educational readiness, assists them in developing support networks, guides their achievement of basic life skills, and guides them to develop life plans and objectives.
Work hours are non-traditional and some on-call responsibility is part of the job. This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a human service field, one or more years experience with a similar population, excellent written and verbal communication skills, Virginia driver's license, good driving record, and proficiency with MSOffice Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
The successful candidate will also have a knowledge of crisis management, homelessness, domestic violence and substance abuse issues, as well as an understanding of family dynamics and counseling techniques.
Note: This position will be part time until July 5, 2010.
At that time, the position will transition to a full time position with comprehensive benefits package.
