MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Data Analysis and Experimental Desig

1. Design clinical trials suited to physician's specific aims and provide sample size requirements.

Generate testable statistical hypotheses and form statistical methods of testing hypotheses.

2. Prepare secure databases; enter the data collected from clinical trials and summarize data generated from the study on an on-going basis.

Cross-tabulate collected data as continuous, categorical and discrete to ensure correct analysis.

3. Analyze data generated from studies by specific methods required for testings of the different hypotheses.

Write programs (SAS, SPSS and StatView) for analysis of data using software running on multiple platforms, including Windows, MAC OS and UNIZ.

4. Organize results of data analysis by classifying results of each test of hypothesis.

Assist the Principal investigator in reporting results by preparing graphs and tables using appropriate software applications.

5. Perform maintenance of computers and software by timely evaluation of disk and system problems using compatibility check programs.

6. Perform independent research on various areas of Biostatistics, directly related to and benefitting selected clinical trials at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

7. Publish findings and conclusions resulting from independent research in a timely fashion.

Teachin

8. Provide departmental and university teaching on Statistical Techniques and Methods on a per semester method.

Conduct workshops and seminars to highlight specific areas of statistical methods in clinical science.

9. Promote both internal and external customer service through the development and implementation of programs and standards which reflect that goal.

10. Promote programs that assure compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies.

11. Recommend approaches for improvement activities, recommend and perform new processes, collect and measure data, develop processes based on performance and communicate results.

12. Promote professional input in-service training programs, both for technical and non-technical staff.

13. Assist in obtaining funding from outside sources for research and teaching program.

14. Promote the implementation of long and short term goals and objectives and ensures that they are appropriate to the Psychiatry - CHRF Program and are integrated with the mission statement of Cincinnati Children's in conjunction with the Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics.

15. Maintain currency in field through continuing education, literature and seminars.

Implement this knowledge into the Psychiatry - CHRF Department.

16. Foster, monitor and implement the concepts of Total Quality Management.

17. Comply with policies and procedures protecting patient rights for informed consent and the handling of confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children's mission and applicable laws and regulations.

18. Participate in the self-governance of the medical staff's activities and governing body.

19. Ensure that work areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective and efficient environment for employees, patients and families.

Attend required Cincinnati Children's training sessions, including radiation safety, laboratory safety, bloodborne pathogens and OSHA.

Comply with Infection Control policies and procedures.

20. Understands, adheres to and models Core Standards as defined organizationally and specifically within the department/unit.

21. Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Capable of relating to diverse age and demographic backgrounds.

Professional knowledge and administrative ability sufficient to plan and control activities and personnel.

Analytical ability required to evaluate data, to make judgements and recommendations regarding operations and to design protocols.

Possess organization, analysis, supervision and prioritization abilities.

Knowledge of outside regulating agencies, roles and responsibilities.

Knowledge of statistical techniques, methods and clinical statistics.

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE: PhD Degree in Biostatistics and Assistant Professor appointment or eligibility required.

Minimum 2 years' experience in a clinical environment, working with pediatric clinical trials data and assisting with the preparation of data for presentation at scientific meetings.

Must have completed Child Neurology Residency.
