Will it be blamed on me?

I am working as OJT (on job trainee) with an MNC and I am responsible for handling their projects. I have one year contract with the company but appointment letter also says that my contract can be terminated any time without citing any reason. And my contract will be extended depending upon my performance. I am handling my first project with them.

Now, the problem is that the contractor with which I am working is taking a lot of time to complete the work and the work remains on hold every 2nd day due to contractors' negligence.

I keep updating my Boss about this problem verbally as well as in written and he says that he will do something. But he does nothing. So the project is already delayed a lot and I dont think that it will be completed any time soon.

I am worried that all the blame now will be put on me and my contract with the company will be terminated. Is it so or is there nothing to worry?

You are not kept as a postman. You are posting problems to your boss.So they may not need the highly paid postman?

Where is the problem try to scrutinize it and solve it.

1) Make a date chart of project with date of completion.Let not days pass faster than the work.Watch the work get finished within the date proposed. If it is not so,pressurize the contractor to increase manpower or man hours.

2)Keep track of material required in advance which can hold your progress.

3)See the payments for the work completed, made in time to the contractor.

4)Try to bound him with the penalty *** bonus clause. If work finished before completion date he will be rewarded by bonus or late completion will attract penalty (per day basis)

5)Any problem which contractor may be facing help him to solve it.

These actions may solve your problem or not but the efforts made by you will be counted which the MNC expects from you.

As long as you are documenting everything, you are covering yourself but no one can tell you what will happen if the job isn't done on time since no one can read the big bosses mind.

I agree with both. It will not be blamed on you, however, what value are you adding? I agree with the second answer, you need to show the company that you are invaluable and see what you can do to move the contractor along. Also has the project moved so far down the road that you can't find another contractor? (can you at least threaten that the contractor has broken his contract by not meeting deadlines and you will be forced to replace him?) Adding value will demonstrate to the company that you are indispensable and can't live without you. Even if it doesn't you can use the experience for your resume.
