I am a graduate, looking forward to frame up my career as IT professional. I don't have any clear choices to which course should I opt to become an IT professional, which will help me to get the job in my home country (INDIA) as well as abroad. Some of My friends suggested me UNIX, Do you think, that will be a good choice keep in mind the future growth. It will be a great help, If any guy from IT or non IT background can help. which is more in demand now a days.

I am a 12 year IT professional who has worked in networking, telco, support and for the last 4 years as a web developer.

Unix professionals are always in demand and there is always a shortage. This is someone who is also a sys admin. Strong understanding of networking, and applications which run on Unix (PHP, subversion, RoR, DNS, Apache) just to name some relevant technologies.

Perhaps i am easily impressed by people who can do this because i rely so heavily on those guys as a developer and finding truly capable and talented ones are far and few between - as well as extremely valuable.
