Which type of Testing would fetch a good career w.r.t Growth and Salary Packages??

For Ex Manual Testing or Automation Testing etc etc and many more....

And hows is the scope in the future??

And how would one develop his/her skills in it being a Mechanical Engineer if he's really interested!!

Automation Testing is always better paying because it takes more skill to be able to modularize and analyze things so that they are automatable. Pay special attention to process analysis.

Manual testing can often be done easily by people with little knowledge of the software, and these types of jobs are often threatened by outsourcing to other companies, even if you are working at an outsourcing company yourself!

It's a little bit of a grey area in terms of the future of software testing. India is pumping out thousands of low-level testers, but more and more companies have need of software testing. If you have a specific unique skill like speaking French or Mandarin, it'll really help you out.

To develop your skills as a Mechanical Engineer, really take the time to find a good University or College, and not just one that is convenient for you. If you are ambitious enough,(depending on where you live), you may be able to find a summer job as in intern for some companies.
