How to write a "why i want this job"?

I am currently applying to become a volunteer for a charity called new bridge, it involves being a pen pal to prisoners. Controversial but excellent experience and good for building my C.V. I'm not sure who I will be writing to but I do get to pick, by looking at the crimes they have commited and how old they are etc. On the application form there is a box say "Please explain why you are applying to become a new bride volunteer befriender"
I have put: As a psychology student at the University of Surrey, I have found myself particularly passionate concerning the forensic and clinical side of psychology. I am driven to develop my knowledge in this area and believe New Bridge Volunteer Befriender scheme would be an excellent opportunity to do so. Offenders deserve interaction outside of prison.
I think its okay, but dont know how to end it, I need to say why they deserve interaction...
