How much do IT Recruitment Agencies charge the Employer in Canada?

Just curious if anyone knows what the fees are. For instance, a few years back I was offered a job via an Agency and they offered me $40,000. I said that was way too low and they upped it to $45,000. So it seems they are making a killing! I didn't take the job because it was still too low and they wouldn't go any higher.
Now the company that I would have been working for has posted a job directly and if they call me in, I would like to know how much to ask for when they pop the question. If anyone knows the answer, please let me know. Thank you in advance!
