I am starting my studies in electrical engineering (in hope to also learn mechanical engineering later in my career). Are there opportunities in engineering to travel and see the world? Perhaps getting involved with foreign projects or join an international agency?

Yes, if you work in the defense or aerospace industry you may travel to different locations outside of the country. Once you have some experience your skill will probably be in demand world-wide.
