Are there any good paying jobs with a Social Work degree?
I'm pursuing a Social Work degree. I didn't choose Social Work as my major for the money, obviously. However, I was wondering if there are jobs that aren't a typical Social Work job. By that I mean, something other than Child Protective Services, Adult Protective Services, Department of Health and Human Resources (etc.) I feel like Social Work is where I need to be, simply because I love helping people, but I want something that is going to be interesting (not the same stuff day to day) and good paying wouldn't be bad either :)

You know, I might have an idea for you. A social worker REALLY helped me out five years ago. Where did she work? In a major hospital here in Seattle. I bet she makes pretty good money. Her name was Michelle S. and she went out of her way to give me info on programs and such that she felt I needed to be on when I became physically disabled. Looking back, I was seeing another counselor (Rosemarie F.) who happened to share an office with Michelle. Something in our conversation came up and Rosemarie was like "Michelle knows about that". From there on out, anytime I saw Michelle she was handing me papers, saying "You need to fill this form out NOW and submit it". I was like "OK". IDK, she helped me find low-income housing, completely helped with my extensive medical bills (my disability is caused by a rare genetic neurological condition and the bills for all the testing and such were like $50,000+), helped get me on SSDI (I had previously worked full-time jobs my entire life and paid the proper taxes, so I was eligible for SSDI). |
