Are computer certifications the same in Canada as in USA?

I am currently attending college to get my Associate's degree in Networking. This will prepare me to achieve certain certifications for computer networking. My question is that I am wanting to move to Canada after I graduate college, so will certifications be the same in Canada? Is there specific criteria for this topc? ANY information would be greatly appreciated.
