"Under-The-Table" Jobs...How do people do it?
First off, I am not asking for a detailed description of law breaking nor do I work for a Government agency trying to nab law breakers.
I hear a LOT, I mean a LOT of people "Working Under The Table", working for a wage/salary but the employer or the employee never reports the earnings or even the job to the regular Government agencies like Social Security and IRS.
What are the more typical types of jobs that people do with this method?
Is there certain things you should say in an interview or otherwise that lets the potential employer know you'd like to work without anyone knowing about it?
Post a WebSite, they exist about this topic?
I Appreciate your help.
PS-This is not asking how to break the law, I am only wanting some very crude and basic clues into the world many of us never go to.

Getting paid "under the table" is a very easy process, actually. But, sadly, it's all up to your employer on whether or not to pay you in this discreet way. And, if they do pay you in this way, it is almost ALWAYS in cash (so as to not allow a "paper trail" by giving you checks and such). The most typical job I've ever heard it being used by is restaurant work. If a small restaurant doesn't want to claim any of its workers on their taxes, it simply won't, and the waitresses and other restaurant workers will get paid in cash by the owner of the restaurant, and the workers will not have to take out any taxes on the money they earn. Yes, it is very naughty business, but, it's a good way for teenagers and other young people to get money without having to deal with the governmental side of, "I get a share of everything you do." I don't really have a Website for you to look at, really, but that's all I really know on the subject. I hope I helped out a bit. :) |
