Say you go on an Job interview and without being told, you are asked to drive the boss to do an errand and your driving demeanor is used to evaluate things like your patients, anger management and decision making skills. Would do you think could learned from this type of practice?

Interesting idea! Not sure if you're saying this has happened to you, or you're thinking of using this exercise as a way to assess candidates?

I think I'd be concerned about being the boss in this situation, putting my life in the hands of a complete stranger, in control of the vehicle! As well as obvious insurance etc considerations.

On the other hand, as you say, driving skills, attitude etc could be an excellent indication of certain both desirable and undesirable tendencies.

Just to add consideration of others, awareness of rules and regulations, awareness of the bigger picture eg the flow of traffic across the city ( I hate it when people block junctions in waiting traffic, causing an obstruction to traffic coming the other way, and wonder what they would be like to work with as part of a team), multi-tasking, concentration levels, performance under pressure, problem-solving, orientation ( being aware of one's surroundings, way-finding, map reading etc), being able to say no ( please don't ask me any interview questions whilst I negotiate this roundabout safely), planning ahead and also being able to adapt plans- the list is endless really.

Even if using this as a candidate assessment may have certain issues, any candidate wishing to demonstrate the above skills could use an example from a driving situation to show how they meet the criteria for the job at hand, as there are so many transferable skills used.
