Wrong graduation date on resume worried about background check.?
Am in a situation. I have been with my current company for 4 years and when I first got hired on my resume it had a graduation date of Aug. 2002(when I was suppose to graduate). When they enter my information into the bio they entered graduation date of Aug. 2002 for all to look at. I had failed a couple of classes that I had to retake and completed finally in Dec 2009 for graduation. I have applied for a new internal position at another site and had to applied with the same resume that had the Aug 2002 graduation date just to make everything match up. The other site can easily see the bio that the first site created so I submitted to the new position with the Aug 2002. I do not want to lose my current job and risk the new job but it would be odd if I submitted the resume with with Dec. 2009 date. What would you do in this situation and yes I know I have learned my lesson. I am afraid that they are going to do a background check at the other site and it will come up. What will I say? Especially since the application it ask you if all the information is correct. I have been employed since 2002 with no gaps just did not retake the classes needed to graduate until 2009. What type of background check do you think they will do?

You posted this before, but looks like it got deleted by mistake. Anyway, my advice is to tough it out this time since you already sent the application. You are transferring within the same company, and you got away with this when you first started working there, so probably they won't spend the money for a full background check. If you can stay cool in the interview, you'll be fine. |
