Writing numbers correctly in a resume?

Category: Other

So I want to have a line that specifies that I have two and a half years of cash handling experience, but I'm not sure how to write the numbers out. I suppose writing it out is generally correct, but it takes up a lot of space, and I was thinking that numerals would be more likely to stand out (which is what I want)

So how should I write it?

Two and a half years cash handling experience

2.5 years cash handling experience

2½ years cash handling experience

2 years 6 months cash handling experience

30 months cash handling experience

Never measure anything in "months." It will seem like less time and take employers longer to convert back into years. When employers are scanning your resume quickly, the last thing that you want is to state something in an awkward way that makes them stop and have to re-read to figure out what you're saying. It will only irritate them.

I would advocate for either "Two and a half years cash handling experience" or "2½ years cash handling experience". People read things the way that they are written. You want them to read it as "Two and a half". Even though it's the same amount, people tend to say "two point five" in their heads when they see "2.5" and we just don't typically use the decimal system when referring to years of time, so it will seem odd to the employer. If you are worried about it needing to stand out, then you should do the "2½" rather than writing it all out. It will look appropriate and also stand out.

It's a matter of style. I would go with the third one.

All of them except the first one are fine. To save space though, I would use 30 months. Which ever you use, be consistent throughout the entire resume. Consistency is the key. If you use 2.5 years then do the same for the rest. If you use 2 1/2 years then do the same from the rest. I believe the first line is correct by typing it "Two and one half years"

Don't do any of these. Put in the date you started and then the date you ended this job. If you are putting it in sentence form you would write "Two and one half years cash handling experience.

On your resume you title your work experience then you described that experience in a paragraph below it like this

June 2006-Dec 2008 CVS Pharmacy 123 Main St, Anywhere US

Responsible for cash handling. Customer service. Store preparation. ect......

If after this you are looking for extra income to supplement your new job, a data entry business would do just that. Data entry is a huge business. You can help the government where all your asked to do is input 10 plates per month, should take about 10-15 minutes. With that you tell others about the opportunity and get a residual income from it.You would be placed in a position that will make you successful. If you want more info msg. me.
