Would my employer already have my drug test results?? Why havent they called?? Advice?

On monday, (today is sunday), i had an interview in the morning at walgreens to be a pharmacy technician. i felt like the job interview went pretty good.

they told me about the job, and what my duties would be and such. (they never actually came out and said, "you have the job") then they gave me some papers to go take a drug test.

i took the drug test monday afternoon.

and still havent gotten a callback from them?

should i be worried? is this a bad sign?

should i call??

Hi,

Being given the paperwork to take a drug test is an excellent sign. Since companies have to pay for the test, they usually don't send all applicants - usually just the one that they plan to make an offer to contingent upon a drug test.

Why haven't they called? One thing to keep in mind is that the weeks before and after a major holiday are normally bad weeks to expect much from hiring managers. Many people go on vacation for the 4th of July and the work kind of waits until everyone gets back. They also may not have received the results back from the drug testing place.

Give the potential employer a call next week and POLITELY let them know that you went and took the drug test, and what day you went. Then POLITELY ask if they've received the results yet. If they haven't this will prompt them to call the testing site for the results and hopefully move your application along.

If you know you'd have passed the drug test, no call isn't a bad sign. It can take a few days for them to get the results, then with the holiday weekend some people might have been off for a long weekend. If you don't hear from them tomorrow or Tuesday, call on Tuesday afternoon.
